San Miguel – A Salsa Pioneer in Finland

San Miguel began teaching salsa in Helsinki shortly after moving to Finland in 1992. Just a year later, he made history by founding Finland’s first salsa dance school, Baila Baila – which quickly became a cultural hub and a home for salsa lovers in the heart of the capital.

Over the years, San Miguel has taught and performed at countless events and festivals across Finland and throughout Europe, spreading the vibrant rhythms and joyful spirit of Caribbean dance wherever he goes.

His talent and dedication were crowned with prestigious victories: he won the Nordic Salsa Championship in 2001 and 2004, as well as the Finnish Salsa Championship in 2004, solidifying his place as one of the most influential salsa figures in the region.

San Miguel is widely recognized as a highly experienced, charismatic, and inspiring teacher. His classes are a unique blend of technical precision, musicality, and infectious joy. With a teaching style that is both fun and challenging, he creates an atmosphere where students not only learn but truly feel the essence of salsa.
